An asbestos roof is common in Adelaide homes built before the late 1980s. Here is how to spot one and handle it safely.

Asbestos-cement roofing was standard in South Australia into the 1980s. If your home predates 1990 and the roof was never replaced, assume asbestos until proven otherwise.
Flat, grey, brittle sheets with a subtle fibrous edge, often with a corrugated or tile profile. Over decades they weather grey and grow moss. A cracked sheet is a genuine health risk, not a cosmetic one.
Cutting, sanding or waterblasting asbestos releases fibres. Removal is regulated, licensed work with a clearance certificate at the end. We are licensed for removal and disposal.
Roughly $60 per square metre on top of the new roof. The clearance certificate is included. See the cost guide.
